Vanessa Bryant Rips Meek Mill Over "Insensitive" Kobe Bryant Lyric - Hollywood Reporter

"If you are a fan, fine, there's a better way to show your admiration for my husband," said the widow. "This lacks respect and tact."

Vanessa Bryant on Monday criticized Meek Mill over a lyric she found to be highly inappropriate about her late husband, Kobe Bryant.

In a new song, "Don't Worry (RIP Kobe)," the rapper, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, says "If I ever lack, I'm goin' out with my chopper, it be another Kobe."

The legendary Los Angeles Laker, his daughter and seven other people were killed in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020.

Vanessa Bryant told Williams via social media he had gone too far with the lyric, saying she felt the instance was "extremely insensitive and disrespectful."

Continued Bryant, "I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there's a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact."

Williams tweeted Tuesday morning that he apologized to the widow and that a previous crude message, later deleted, was not directed at her.

"I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public...Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!" the rapper said via Twitter.

Earlier this month, the National Transportation Safety Board ruled that the helicopter accident was caused after the pilot flew through the clouds and became disoriented.

The crash has generated several ongoing lawsuits and countersuits.
